First things first, I would like to wish John Terry a speedy recovery from a horrible injury.
Now on to the kids and the fact that they were never outgunned in this pulsating Carling Cup final. Contrast that to the meet surrender of the "first team" in Eindhoven the other night and you really have to say that now could be the time to blood a few more of them.
From one to eleven they did their jobs and it took Chelsea's quarter of a billion pound squad all their time to win this match. And that is testament to the young guns, I am proud of each and every one of them.
Ok so in the final quarter Chelsea hit to woodwork a couple of times, but we stretched Cech on a couple of occasions and had we been facing a lesser goalkeeper would have been out of sight long before Drogba bagged his late winner.
We can talk about the brawl, but in all honesty it was an afterthought and a little bit of frustration showing through after some pretty cynical challenges from the blue mob all afternoon. But I am not going to blame the referee and despite losing a major cup final to London rivals I am very upbeat.
In fact as they went up to collect the trophy I was tittering to myself about how proud Ashley Cole must be of his contribution and how well earned his medal was...
This will now be a major test for the Gunners kids and I hope that with Spurs doing us a favour this afternoon we can consolidate 4th place (or even 3rd) whilst letting some more of them loose on the Premiership. Diaby, Denilson and Walcott proved worthy of selection and whilst doubts about Theos fitness persist, if he doesnt need surgery he should play.
On to Blackburn then now eh?
